FOUNDER
In 2006, a book was published.
The author, Richard Taylor, is the charismatic Associate Pastor of one of the UK’s fastest growing Churches. He is also a television presenter, corporate speaker, the author of two other successful books and he travels the world bringing his unique style of communication to tens of thousands of people.
He’s married to Jill, and they have 4 sons.
If you met him, you’d find his boundless energy exhausting and his humour infectious. Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke describes Richard as ‘a young man alight with the fire of the Holy Spirit.’
But, life wasn’t always like this.

Richard Taylor grew up in a deprived area of South Wales. He fell in to the underground world of drugs and crime. He was reckless and addicted - his life rapidly spiralling out of control.
In prison, Richard’s life was turned around by a completely unexpected, life-changing spiritual experience. Through the mentoring of the prison pastors and subsequently by a Christian outreach programme, Richard came to understand and cherish the word of God.
He shared his story with others and was soon invited to preach at local churches. He then studied for a degree in Theology before commencing his first pastoral role.
From his unique perspective, Richard knew that he could lead others through the Gateway to a new life. So, he wrote his autobiography ‘To Catch a Thief’ and committed to placing copies of this with every prisoner, across the country. In this way, through his story, he hoped that other lives would be transformed.
In the first year, 70,000 copies of the book were distributed and the response from prisoners has been overwhelming. With so many people wanting to follow Richard’s inspiration, the Gateway Foundation was formed in 2007 |
